Grant Moore
Woodwind Technician
Grant Moore is a junior at Stanford University pursuing a double major in Political Science and Music with a concentration in Woodwind, Brass, and Percussion Performance. A 4-year Rancho Cucamonga Marching Cougars alumni, Grant graduated from RCHS in 2021. He is currently in his second year working with RCMC as a Woodwind Technician.
During his high school years, on top of his membership as an alto and soprano saxophonist in numerous programs within the RCMC, Grant was also a saxophonist in the 2019 and 2020 CJUHSD Jazz Honor Band, the 2020 SBCMEA All-County Honor Band, the 2020 PCC Tournament of Roses Honor Band, and the 2020 and 2021 SCSBOA All-Southern Honor Wind Ensemble.
At Stanford, Grant is a saxophonist in both the Stanford Saxophone Studio and Wind Symphony, and is the lead alto saxophonist and President of the Stanford Jazz Orchestra. He has taken private instruction for alto and soprano saxophone, clarinet, and flute since 2015. Currently, he studies classical saxophone under David Henderson and jazz studies under Charlie McCarthy.
Grant has worked closely with artists including Clairdee, Sal Cracchiolo, Johan de Meij, Bob Mintzer, Eric Marienthal, Francisco Torres, Wesley Broadnax, Steve Sanchez, Sebastian Hayn, and Terell Stafford. His most recent musical accomplishments include performing Michael Colgrass's Urban Requiem with his saxophone quartet, accompanied by the Stanford Wind Symphony in March 2023, and touring Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, and Austria alongside his Jazz Orchestra and world-renowned trumpeter Wayne Bergeron in June and July 2023.
